How To Write a Franchise Award Entry That Stands Out
Entries for the Elite Franchise Top 100 Awards in the UK and Canada open on July 6th 2026, giving franchisors the opportunity to showcase the achievements, innovation and growth that have shaped their businesses over the past year.
While many businesses begin pulling together information once applications open, experienced award judges know that the strongest submissions are often those that have been carefully planned well in advance.
What makes an award-winning entry?
A successful franchise award submission isn't simply about reporting impressive growth figures or celebrating expansion. Judges are looking for a clear, evidence-based story that demonstrates the impact a franchise has made.
The most compelling applications explain how a business has supported its franchise network, overcome challenges, introduced new initiatives and delivered measurable results. Rather than making broad claims, successful entrants back up their achievements with evidence and provide the context that allows judges to understand the significance of their progress.
Every application should tell its own story
One of the biggest misconceptions is that judges will already be familiar with a franchise brand and its successes. In reality, every submission is assessed on the information provided within the application itself.
Whether a business is entering for the first time or has featured in previous rankings, each entry needs to clearly explain its achievements, demonstrate the value of its work and present a complete picture of the business over the previous 12 months.
Prioritise impact, not volume
Many franchisors have a long list of milestones they could include in an award submission. However, the strongest entries are rarely the longest.
Instead of trying to include everything, applicants should focus on the achievements that have created the greatest impact for franchisees, customers and the wider business. A well-structured submission that highlights meaningful outcomes will always carry more weight than a lengthy list of accomplishments.
Learn directly from the judging panel
To help franchisors prepare, Elite Franchise hosted two Virtual Pre-Entry Masterclasses for UK and Canadian Franchisors.

The session gives prospective entrants from both the UK and Canada the opportunity to hear directly from members of the EF100 judging panel, gain a better understanding of how submissions are assessed and learn what separates outstanding entries from the rest.
A refreshed approach to this year's awards
Jodie Marsh, Commercial Director of the Elite Franchise brand, explains why franchisors should approach this year's application process with fresh eyes.
"There is a significant change in how we are approaching the EF100 application process this year. Even for businesses that have entered multiple times before, it is important not to assume the process will feel familiar or that previous entries will give you a clear advantage.
"We strongly encourage all franchisors, whether they are first-time entrants or long-standing EF100 brands, to watch the masterclass. It will give them a clear understanding of what judges are looking for and how to approach their submission."
Entries open on 6 July
The masterclass forms part of a wider commitment to making the awards process more accessible and transparent. By understanding how entries are evaluated before applying, franchisors can better showcase the work they've done and ensure their strongest achievements are presented in the most effective way.
The Elite Franchise Top 100 Awards are among the most recognised franchise rankings, celebrating businesses that demonstrate excellence across leadership, innovation, growth, franchisee support and overall business performance.
Entries open on 6 July 2026 for both the UK and Canadian awards, franchisors have two months to submit their applications.
